"Greatly impressed by their friendly but clearly very professional attitude."

“I originally approached Melanie Curtis Accountants in 2010 when I set up a small sole trader business but decided, due to its simplicity, that I would deal with all relevant matters myself. I remember visiting their original office in Burghfield and being greatly impressed by their friendly but clearly very professional attitude.

However, early in 2015, I purchased a travel franchise and because of the need to be VAT registered, I promptly contacted them and made arrangements to visit in order to provide them with all the information they required so that they could deal with the necessary formalities for me. It came as rather a shock when I was informed that the formation of a private limited company would be necessary unless I also started to charge my customers VAT within my existing sole trader business. I did not feel that this was an option due to its size and nature and therefore instructed Melanie Curtis Accountants to also deal with the formation of the limited company (along with VAT registration). This was effectively dealt with and in no time at all, Not Just Travel (Berkshire) Limited was born!

The idea of running a limited company seemed very scary to me, but I have had my hand held every step of the way during my first year of trading. Ashley, a Junior Accountant, has been on hand to assist whenever I have felt it necessary. Visits or telephone calls to the office are never a problem and I have never been made to feel that I am a nuisance - despite many of my questions appearing rather silly! Ashley will often receive general queries from me via email and I never have to wait more than a few hours for a polite and very detailed response.

I have access to 'MORE' which allows me to submit my VAT returns on a quarterly basis and have visited the office in Stratfield Saye twice to run through the general procedure and to have all my queries answered. Ashley has continued to be on hand to answer any questions that have arisen during subsequent submissions of returns. My end of year accounts are about to be prepared and I have had it clearly explained to me what paperwork they require in order to do this effectively on my behalf.

Not Just Travel itself has recently rebranded and I decided it might make more sense to trade under my own name (rather than 'Berkshire', being the area in which I live). I had no idea how to go about this or what the implications may be. The various options were clearly explained to me and I am now in the process of informing all relevant parties of my new trading name.

I can therefore say that I would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending Melanie Curtis Accountants, especially to those that are new to business and who may require a lot of help in their early years of trading. From my experience, it is clearly evident that they work efficiently as a team and I get the impression that staff turnover is minimal as everybody receives the respect and recognition they deserve from Melanie herself.”

Not Just Travel (Berkshire) Limited trading as 'Not Just Travel - Jane Webb'
